Forty years up.
Forty years on.

A quarter of a million gathered in Washington and heard a dream America had not yet lived. After years of persistence, the King Holiday was signed into federal law. On January 20, 1986, America observed the first Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

MLK40 honors the first forty years, 1986–2026, while asking what stewardship requires from the next forty. The record is not the finish line. It is the handoff.
